On the beat

Today we walked a really long way. I felt really sick all day. My cold got worse. My eye kept getting stuck closed from gunk and there was a lot of snot coming out of my nose. I slept a lot in the pram, but also wanted lots of cuddles, so Mum and Dad had to carry me in the sling. Despite all this, we saw and did lots of interesting things. For instance, this shop name was funny. Lib?
Regarding my robotic waving action, I take my cues from the Royal Family. I wanted to see dear Wills and Kate to congratulate them on the wedding, so took Mum and Dad to Buckingham Palace. I suggested Wills wear the fox hat to cover the 'high forehead' and warned Kate (with a demonstration - I really can do it) that casual toe-sucking spells disaster for future royal invitations.

Turns out it was changing of the guards time. The pomp! The ceremony!  It was actually a little boring. Mum said she was glad we didn't go out of our way to see it, but I loved the Beefeaters with machine guns and bayonets.

We noticed two arches, one either side of the road leading to the Palace, both marked Australia. One had a kangaroo on top, the other a sheep. This is me, Dad and the sheep:

Then we went to St James's park and saw some ducks and what Mum called "other duck-like birds". Other people refer to these as "swans" and "geese". It was nice and sunny in the park, around 18 degrees. I thought I'd follow the lead of the pasty English and bare my bellybutton. It's an inny.

Then I did some crawling and standing. Look Mum, no hands!

I'm developing my jowls. Winston Churchill, you're my hero...

After the park we walked up to Soho (so Dad could go record shopping - scored Ike Turner, the Moodists and took a punt on Mink DeVille - and Mum could get a decent coffee). We had lunch with Lucie in Mayfair (fancy!). A short crawl in Hyde Park near the Serpentine and then to Harrods. I was exhausted, so slept through the whole thing. My parents indulged in their favourites. Dad bought a bread and butter pudding and Mum a creme brulee. Fatties.

We had to get home then. We took the tube from Knightsbridge to Earl's Court and changed for Fulham Broadway. A 10 minute walk and we were home. I was so happy I tore the lounge room apart.
