You call that art?

The day started well for Mum. We took a stroll down to the Bastille, then walked a bit further to find her a decent coffee. Her coffee experience on the first day in Paris was so bad (burnt UHT milk!!!! Quelle horreur!) that she spent ages last night googling "good coffee Paris", and came up trumps with The Cafeotheque. As you can see, Dad was less impressed with Mum's find. He didn't appreciate paying 5 Euros for a coffee. Mum did, and got another to take-away.

Luckily the cafe was close to Hotel de Ville, which is actually Paris' town hall, not a hotel. Geoff had tipped us off that there was an impressionist exhibition on there - and it was free and Mum and Dad got to queue jump because of me! The exhibition was great they tell me. I slept through the whole thing.

Next stop was Aunty Loz and Geoff's apartment, which is not far from ours. They boldly offered to babysit so Mum and Dad could go to an actual restaurant for lunch sans Louis.  (Louis is my new name for the week.)

I had a great time entertaining Uncle Geoff. It looks like Mum and Dad had fun ... Apparently Italian food tastes great in France too.

Next stop was the Georges Pompidou centre galleries, which were actually open today. It was a pretty impressive collection; my first experience of modern art. And I liked it! This is Warhol's Ten Liz's (probably anticipating 10 husbands).

This one was my favourite. I loved looking at myself! And Mum enjoyed taking an 'artistic' shot. Nice try...

Don't even ask what Mum is up to here...

Sorry Mum, Dad says no more chairs and no more cushions.

The Pompidou centre had great views from the top floor - across to the Eiffel Tower...

 and up to Montmarte.

As fun as our big day gallery hopping was, it was nice to be outside crawling around!

After this Mum and Dad went crazy buying cheese and bread, and we all went back to the apartment for a pig-out. I only ate the bread. The cheese smelt like Dad's socks.

Signing off,
Louis
